Welcome

Welcome to my website! Our final class project requires the students to create an .HTML page that either links or embeds our digital image, audio, and video projects. Enjoy!

Digital Image Project

Part 1. The primary objective is to create a webpage banner and icon for parenting that "Highlight[s] parenting in a soothing way and be natural to the readers." (a) Banner: The client provided three background images and seven images depicting parents and children. I selected the green field with the white puffy clouds, which appeared to be the most soothing. (b) Icon: Repeating the baby seemed to be the most appropriate of the images for the icon. Part 2. The primary objective is to take an original digital image and manipulate the image non-preset filters. My significantly better half, Kathy took the original photo while we were on vacation. The focus is on our two children Sarah and Brice. I am in the background. I find the parrot's colors very vibrant and wanted to make other parts of the photo pop with color, but not in clarity, so I tried to blend the colors together. The goal was to keep the kids intact and improve the periphery. Please click on the hyperlinks below to access the final images and process document:

Digital Audio Project

The primary objective is to create a digital audio that captures and manipulates digital audio information for web playback. The theme is an audio commercial for Sleepytime Tea. The voice audio is my reading of portions from the Sleepytime box. The background music is the Stray Cats version of instrumental Sleepwalk. The music is continuous and the voice and the music are overlapped for about two-thirds of the time. The music fades as the voice audio begins and fades to zero after the voice is completed. The extra effect was to echo Brian Setzer's guitar at the end as the music fades out.

Digital Video Project

My primary objective was to create a digital file that captures and manipulates digital video and audio information for web playback. The theme is higher education instruction, with the topic of column failure mechanisms. The idea was borne from a sample video of someone showing how to use Microsoft Excel. I decided to do something similar, but wanted to sketch rather than to move the mouse around. I created (a) three motion sequences (flexural buckling, local buckling, and yielding failures) using Screencast-O-Matic to capture the animated graphics of me sketching in Microsoft Paint, (b) three separate audio track narrations in Movie Maker (one for each failure), (c) included a still image from my class notes, and (d) included the instrumental background music by the Stray Cats.
